With the coming holidays fast approaching, the seasons are changing as well, bringing forth a colder weather. This change in weather from warm to cool entails a higher risk in catching common sickness and diseases such as coughs and colds. The human body can adapt significantly along with the change of the seasons. Making sure that the body adjusts with respect to the seasons is an important in avoiding catching colds. In order to achieve this, the body’s immune system must be prepared and strengthened for such an event. There are several suggestions in how this can be accomplished, ensuring a more stress free and sickness free holiday season.

There are two ways of achieving the desired effect of strengthening the body’s immune system, either naturally or synthetically. Medicines are normally taken as a cure but not normally as a preventive measure, with the possible exception of vitamin tablets. People say prevention is better than a cure. As such, there is no harm in giving an effort in taking better care of the body. It may save more you more than money in the long run.

First, it is important to be getting enough sleep. This may be obvious or more difficult for some, most especially with the holidays. Losing sleep for long spans of time decreases the body’s ability to fight diseases. Approximate eight hours of sleep is recommended to getting a stronger immune system as well as enjoying a more stress free holiday.

Consume a good amount of fruits and veggies. Eating healthy foods adds to the body’s natural immune system, increasing chances of avoiding getting sick. This may seem more difficult especially during times of feasting but essential in achieving a more stress free and cold free holiday season. Consumption of certain foods are also known to increase the sensation of feeling good, increasing production of endorphins and the common cold will be avoided.

Exercise as much as you can. Half an hour a day helps you keep fit and healthy during the times of cool weather. The added muscular movement also increases the body’s endorphins and the common cold will have a hard time attacking your immune system. This exercising activity boosts the endorphins and the common cold is avoided with performing this energizing activity. Early morning jogs or brisk walking can be fun and helpful way in this achieving this endeavor of naturally strengthening the immune system by increasing the endorphins, and the common cold will be evaded.

The release of endorphins can also be stimulated by other outdoor activities. Although with the current cold climate, this may seem odd but highly effective. Studies show that indoor air contains more germs and as such, being enclosed in an air tight space for too long can actually cause more harm than good. Play in the snow or go for a snowball fight. The activity will increase your endorphins and the common cold will be eluded.

Take these suggested steps to ensure a more fun and less stressful holiday season. Holidays only come once a year and should be spent well with family and loved ones as memories last longer and are more valuable than the cold.

Despite of what people may think, it is actually relatively simple to cure a common cold. In most cases, it does not even require medical attention since it is actually pretty easy to cure a cold with natural remedies. This is because the human body will already do most of the work of getting rid of the offending virus out of its system. This is why the best thing that a person can do to lessen the gloom of a cold and even to prevent the viral infection from getting worse is just to let the body do its job and help it get things done.

The most common symptoms of a cold are nasal congestion, sore throat, problems with digestion, and exhaustion. In case you feel these signs and suppose that you may be coming down with it, there are many ways to cure a cold with natural remedies. Early action can quash the symptoms in less than a day.

One of the first and foremost actions to take in order to cure a cold with natural remedies, is by taking extra care of the body at the first signs of an infection. Rest is very important. It is also important just to stay at home even if the symptoms are not that extreme. It will not only give the body a head start at fighting the virus, it will also prevent the cold from spreading to other people.

Another way to help cure a cold in a natural manner is by drinking plenty of fluids such as fruit juices, broths and clear soups, herbal teas, and, of course, water. Lessen the intake of solid foods as well so that the body will not have to work too much on digestion. The more time and energy it has to get rid of the cold, the better.

Drinking a glass of honey and lemon at least twice a day is also one of the ways to cure a cold with natural remedies. For a nighttime cocktail, you can also drink hot lemonade with brandy. These blends are said to stimulate sleep and lets the body purify itself. They can also help soothe sore a sore throat.

Taking a hot bath is also a helpful natural remedy for curing colds. In the absence of a fever, doing this not only helps the body relax; the steam from the water is also useful for decongesting nasal passages. Adding a few drops of essential rosemary and eucalyptus oils to the bath water is therapeutic as well.

There are other natural ways of curing a cold and most of them do not require a lot of time, money, and effort. The only thing and most important fact to remember is a viral infection is usually the body’s way of telling people that they need to take a break. Learn to listen to your body and help it do its work. Furthermore, remember that taking a rest is the main key in curing a common cold.

The common cold is something that almost everyone has experienced in their life. When you look for a natural remedy the options available to you are numerous. We will first look at the typical symptoms you might experience with a common cold; then we will review how a natural remedy might be able to be used to combat it.

The common cold has a typical incubation period of 1-3 days after the infection has been passed to you. During that time you body starts to try and ward of the disease and if successful you might not have even known you had a cold; however most are not that likely and develop the common cold.

The most resident symptoms you will experience with a common cold are:

• Fever between 98-101.5 degrees
• Watery eyes
• Coughing
• Running Nose
• Slight headache
• Itchy or sore throat
• Weakness in your body

While you start a natural remedy make sure to keep an eye on these symptoms; if you should get a spike in fever, nausea or vomiting then you might have the flu or influenza which would definitely require your doctor’s advice.

As it was mentioned earlier the numbers of natural remedies for the common called are abundant. In this article we will just a review a few of the more common ones, Vitamin C, chicken soup, liquids, and garlic.

Vitamin C

The tough immune system will ward off a common cold faster than most remedies but if you end up with a cold it still can have a great affect on your recovery. While organs themselves are a good source of vitamin C it might not be the best choice to take due to the acid from the fruit. Just take Vitamin C in a pill form during this time.

Chicken Soup

Chicken soup can be a very effective natural remedy for the common cold as the amino acid cysteine acts to keep your airways clear and prevents further congestion from occurring.

Liquids

Aside from making sure you drink lots of water during this time herbal tea can provide the necessary natural remedy of healing to occur in the body. Also, adding a bit of cinnamon can also promote a faster healing too.

Garlic

Aside from the garlic that may be present in your homemade chicken soup, taking a bit of fresh garlic can help fight off your cold. There are some antibacterial compounds in garlic that are the reason why it can be helpful as a natural remedy.

The common cold season can hit any time and it is always best to be prepared ahead of time for it. So, where possible, make sure you are doing what you can to keep from spreading the common cold; but if you catch one use any of the above remedies for help.
